• Corylus avallana Red Majestic

It has beautiful, deep purple leaves in spring and summer. The branches have the same intricately contorted appearance and it has pretty pink/purple catkins in later winter or early spring. It makes a spectacular specimen shrub and is suitable for most garden sizes.

  • Corylus avellana Contorta

Corkscrew Hazel. A shrub with heart-shaped green leaves and strongly twisted stems, that are particularly effective in winter. Bears yellow catkins late winter early spring. Height 5m. Spread 5m. Deciduous. Hardy.

  • Corylus avellana Fertile de Coutard

An old, very productive form of common hazel, sometimes known as the white filbert (although it’s a cobnut). Large, vigorous, deciduous nut-tree, with a rounded habit, reaching a height of 4-5m and spread of 3m. The nuts are very large, flattened on two sides with a medium-sized calyx; they are ivory-white, fragrant and have a good flavour. The large, slightly serrated leaves are mid-green.

  • Corylus avellana Rode Zellernoot

Rich-purple leaves festooned with long, pretty, pink catkins, followed by purple, edible nuts later in the year.
